Emphasizing equal employment opportunity, Aramark fosters a diverse and inclusive culture where employees can thrive and develop professionally. The company is committed to providing comprehensive benefits and a supportive environment that values each individual’s contributions and growth potential.

The University of Chicago Medicine, a leading academic medical center known for outstanding patient care, innovative research, and education, partners with Aramark Healthcare to enhance operational and safety standards across its food service operations. Aramark Healthcare is currently seeking a dedicated Food Safety Manager to join the team at this prestigious institution.

The Food Safety Manager role focuses on coordinating efforts to implement and uphold rigorous safety, sanitation, and risk programs. This position is pivotal in safeguarding the health and well-being of employees, patients, visitors, and the environment by ensuring compliance with occupational safety and food safety standards. Reporting as an operational support leader, this individual collaborates closely with multiple departments, including Safety and Risk Solutions, Healthcare District Leadership, General Managers, District Safety Managers, and client representatives.

Key responsibilities include driving continuous improvements in sanitation and safety processes, maintaining compliance with local and regional regulatory authorities such as local health departments, CMS, and The Joint Commission, and ensuring that all safety documentation and procedures are current and effectively implemented. The Food Safety Manager also plays an essential role during regulatory inspections, working alongside public health inspectors to mitigate risks and resolve compliance issues.

This role requires leading investigative efforts related to corrective actions for any safety-related concerns, managing both internal and external responses to identify root causes, restore control, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Additionally, the Food Safety Manager is involved in supporting sanitation activities, assisting with new business mobilizations, and managing projects including culinary equipment upgrades, safety improvements, and pest control programs.

The position offers a salaried compensation range of $70,000 to $80,000, reflecting Aramark’s good faith estimate at the time of posting. Aramark also provides comprehensive benefits packages for eligible employees, including medical, dental, vision coverage, retirement plans like 401(k), paid time off including parental leave and disability coverage, as well as work/life resources. Benefits may vary by location and employee eligibility. There is no set application deadline for this vacancy, as it will remain open until a qualified candidate is selected. Aramark maintains a commitment to equitable hiring practices and complies with all applicable laws related to candidates with arrest or conviction records.

In summary, the Food Safety Manager at Aramark Healthcare working within the University of Chicago Medicine environment is a critical role focused on promoting safe food handling practices and occupational safety.
