Job Description
Our company is a leading provider of food safety auditing services, dedicated to enhancing the safety and quality of food products across the retail grocery and foodservice industries. We operate within the Institutional business group and are currently expanding our team of Food Safety Auditors to meet growing client demand. Our auditors play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with established regulatory, industry, and customer brand standards, focusing on food safety, workplace safety, and facility standards across various client locations nationwide.
We are seeking part-time, contract Food Safety Auditors who bring expertise and integrity to the auditing process. These independent contractor roles offer flexibility, with audits scheduled throughout the week, including weekends and evenings, making it ideal for freelance auditors and independent consultants. The role requires auditors to operate free from conflicts of interest and to work systematically with state-of-the-art auditing technology.
As a Food Safety Auditor with our company, you will be responsible for conducting thorough audits of retail grocery and foodservice establishments using Android or iOS tablets equipped with the latest auditing software. You will observe food preparation and cooking procedures to ensure adherence to food safety, health, and sanitation standards, identify actual or potential risks such as cross-contamination, evaluate pest control measures, and verify compliance with critical time and temperature controls, storage protocols, and sanitation practices. You will also train and coach local staff on corrective actions to address noncompliance, helping managers and workers improve their food safety practices.
This role includes a variety of activities, such as learning specific client account standards, participating in calibration exams to maintain consistency, and performing both scheduled and unscheduled audits based on your availability. Audits vary in duration, sometimes lasting from four to eight hours, requiring physical stamina to be on your feet for extended periods. Limited travel reimbursements are available, and competitive hourly rates start at $70, making this an attractive opportunity for those seeking flexible, part-time contract work in a critical and fast-growing field.
Joining our team means becoming part of a respected network of food safety professionals dedicated to maintaining public health standards and helping improve the foodservice industry's overall safety and quality. We provide comprehensive training modules, calibration activities, access to an account standards manual, and robust software training to equip you with the tools needed to succeed in this role. Furthermore, multiple Food Safety Auditor positions are available across all regions of the United States, offering opportunities to work in diverse environments and broaden your professional experience.
This is a part-time contract position without eligibility for employee benefits or 401k plans. However, the flexible schedule, competitive hourly rate, opportunity for ongoing professional development, and chance to make a direct impact on public health and food safety standards distinguish this role as a valuable career step for qualified professionals in food safety auditing and related fields.
