This Food Safety and Quality Associate/Supervisor position located in Hayward, California, within the Columbus Craft Meats division of Hormel Foods, offers a hands-on leadership role primarily focused on upholding the highest standards of product quality and food safety. The candidate will have key responsibilities supporting the management team in the rollout and enforcement of food safety practices, quality control processes, and production sanitation within the meat processing facility. The role also includes direct supervision and training of a small team of 4 to 6 quality auditors who help monitor and maintain compliance with stringent quality guidelines.
As a Food Safety and Quality Associate/Supervisor, you will be actively engaged on the production floor for approximately 60% of your shift, ensuring proactive leadership and immediate issue resolution. The position requires a proactive approach to enforcing sanitation procedures and food safety standards, contributing to a culture of quality and compliance that permeates throughout the manufacturing environment. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Management, Business Administration, or related field with a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA, 3.0 preferred, or 5+ years of relevant supervisory experience
- Must be a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States
- Applicants must not require sponsorship for an employment visa now or in the future
- Must be comfortable with the preparation and consumption of various Hormel Foods products including pork, beef, chicken, turkey, and nuts
- Must be open to relocation
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Management, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA, 3.0 preferred
- 5+ years of relevant supervisory experience
- Experience facilitating clear and effective communication across cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control methodologies
