Job Description

Pace is a dynamic and mission-driven consulting firm dedicated to advancing science and promoting health and safety within communities through expertise and innovative solutions. As a reputable consulting company focused on supporting food, dietary supplement, ingredient, packaging, and consumer product manufacturers, Pace prides itself on delivering comprehensive quality assurance and regulatory compliance services. The company is committed to continuous improvement and scientific advancement, helping its clients strengthen their operational framework and achieve excellence in food safety and manufacturing practices.

The Quality Assurance Consultant role at Pace is a sought-after position that offers professionals the opportunity to contribute substantially to the health and safety of consumers by ensuring that manufacturers maintain the highest standards of food safety and good manufacturing practices (GMP). This position is a part-time, PRN role with an expected workload of 15 to 20 hours per week. Compensation is competitive, ranging from $62.50 to $76.50 per hour, reflecting the specialized expertise required for this role. The consultants play a critical role in assessing client operations and facilitating compliance with FDA food regulations and industry standards.

Ideal candidates for this position bring extensive knowledge in food quality systems, regulatory compliance, supplier qualification, auditing, and the development of food safety programs. Their work impacts a broad spectrum of industries, including food, beverage, dietary supplements, ingredient manufacturing, packaging, and consumer products. The scope of their responsibilities includes conducting thorough audits of manufacturing premises, packaging, warehousing, and supplier operations, evaluating compliance with strict regulatory requirements such as the FDA’s food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Quality Assurance Consultants at Pace are tasked with identifying gaps and areas for improvement through detailed assessments against applicable regulations such as 21 CFR Part 117 (Preventive Controls for Human Food), 21 CFR Part 111 (Dietary Supplements), the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), HACCP principles, and recognized GFSI standards like SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and IFS. They are responsible for developing and enhancing Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), authoring critical documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality procedures, hazard analyses, and preventive control plans.

In this role, consultants support their clients rigorously during FDA inspections, customer audits, certification processes, and regulatory responses, ensuring that organizations maintain continuous compliance with evolving food safety requirements. They also investigate quality events and food safety incidents, assess Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and guide suppliers on qualification and monitoring programs. Training and coaching clients on GMPs, sanitation, documentation practices, and inspection readiness form an essential part of their responsibilities, equipping client teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to uphold food safety standards.

This role is particularly suited for professionals who are self-motivated, capable of managing multiple client projects simultaneously, and possess excellent technical writing and communication skills. The role also demands a willingness and ability to travel domestically—and occasionally internationally—to serve client needs effectively. Candidates with certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, and Lead Auditor (SQF, BRCGS, ISO 22000, or equivalent) are preferred, reflecting an advanced level of expertise in the food safety field.

Pace is committed to nurturing careers and offers a supportive, inclusive workplace where diversity is highly valued. This is an evergreen posting for future opportunities within the team, encouraging qualified candidates to apply and join Pace in their continuous drive to make a meaningful impact on public health and safety.
