The Food Runner position at WATR, one of Starwood Hotels’ distinguished restaurant and bar venues, is an integral role that supports the seamless delivery of food and exceptional service to guests. The Food Runner works closely with the larger service team, aiding servers and ensuring guests receive their meals promptly and according to the highest standards. This position requires someone who is attentive, highly organized, and eager to contribute as a reliable team player in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
A Food Runner's duties include maintaining a working knowledge of the full food and beverage menu to make recommendations when appropriate, upholding strict sanitary and food handling procedures, and keeping all service areas clean, organized, and well stocked. The role demands a keen attention to detail by delivering correct food orders to the appropriate guests and assisting servers with tableside presentations. It also requires adherence to safety and hygiene guidelines set by federal and state laws while fostering warm, respectful service. The Food Runner is also expected to assist bussers and servers by clearing and resetting tables when needed and actively participate in daily shift meetings to stay aligned with team objectives and standards.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in hospitality or food service preferred
- ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends
- ability to follow instructions and work under pressure
- ability to communicate effectively with team members and guests
- physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- willingness to undergo food handling certification if not already obtained

Job Duties
- Maintain a working knowledge of full food and drink menu while making recommendations
- follow high standards of food product, sanitation, storage, and handling procedures
- keep all service areas clean, organized, and stocked
- follow server’s food orders in placing correct item in front of correct guest
- assist servers in any tableside presentation
- follow service pace in delivering food from kitchen to guest’s table and ensure food quality and presentation
- assist busser or fellow servers in clearing and resetting tables when needed
- provide engaged, friendly and attentive customer service to all guests inclusive of eye contact, respectable conversation and smiling
- practice highest regards for safety within all areas and with all materials
- follow and adhere to all standards set forth by federal and state guidelines
- perform other related activities as assigned by management
- guarantee neat and quality service
- participate in daily shift meetings
- adhere to strict uniform and grooming standards
