Job Description
Larchmont Yacht Club has been a cornerstone of waterfront life on Long Island Sound since its establishment in 1880. Located approximately 16 miles from New York City, this prestigious private club boasts a scenic harbor front campus that reflects its rich sailing heritage and vibrant community of members. Known for its commitment to exceptional hospitality and quality service, the Club offers more than just recreational activities; it is a place where members gather to enjoy an array of social and dining experiences throughout the year.
The dining experience at Larchmont Yacht Club is a crucial part of the overall member experience. From spring through fall, members enjoy meals in several settings, ranging from elegant dining rooms to relaxed waterfront patios, as well as outdoor seasonal venues that overlook the picturesque harbor. The culinary and service teams work in unison to curate memorable dining experiences, catering to everything from casual lunches and family dinners to regattas, celebrations, and private events. The Club's atmosphere combines tradition with an inviting and lively environment all season long.
The Food Runner role is a vital part of the Club's service team, especially during the busy spring and summer months from April 1 through October 31, when the Club operates extensively. This position is offered as either full-time or part-time and requires a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and major holiday weekends depending on business needs. Compensation starts from $18.00 per hour, and this is a non-tipped role, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking for stable hourly wages in hospitality.
As a Food Runner, you will play an essential support role by bridging the kitchen and dining room, ensuring that food is delivered promptly and accurately to members' tables. Your responsibilities extend beyond food delivery and include assisting servers during peak service periods, helping with table clearing and resetting, maintaining organized service stations, and supporting special events and banquets. The role demands efficiency, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to maintain smooth service flow and ensure the highest level of member satisfaction.
This position is ideal for a broad range of candidates, including recent high school graduates, college students seeking summer employment, teachers on seasonal break, and anyone eager to gain hospitality experience in a professional environment. While previous restaurant or hospitality experience can be beneficial, it is not a strict requirement as comprehensive training is provided. Candidates need to be physically prepared for the demands of the job, which include standing and walking for extended periods and occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
Being part of Larchmont Yacht Club means joining a respected and long-standing institution with a warm, inclusive team atmosphere focused on service excellence. Many seasonal employees choose to return year after year, drawn by the sense of community, the opportunity to develop valuable skills, and the beautiful work environment. If you thrive in active, people-oriented roles and are seeking to advance your career in hospitality, this Food Runner position offers an exceptional entry point to the industry while working amidst inspiring waterfront views and a top-tier club setting.
