The current position is a Food and Beverage Service Assistant role aboard the Pride of America vessel. This role is primarily concerned with supporting guest satisfaction targets and boosting food and beverage revenue by adhering to established service strategies and maximizing up-sell opportunities. The role requires a candidate with a keen attention to detail and a passion for providing excellent hospitality services in a fast-paced, multicultural environment. Duties cover a range of service areas, including restaurant, buffet, and room service, as well as support during private functions and parties. An essential part of the role is to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages, maintenance of cleanliness and proper setup of stations, and resolution of guest service issues to ensure satisfaction.
The assistant will collaborate closely with waiters, helping manage stations of up to 32 seats and handling sizable trays and glassware. The role demands knowledge of various international dining styles and meal periods, including Italian, French, steakhouse, and more casual fare, ensuring versatility and adaptability to different dining concepts. Applicants must demonstrate good physical stamina, as the job involves carrying heavy loads, navigating confined spaces, climbing ladders, and prolonged standing. A Merchant Mariner Credential is required to comply with U.S. Coast Guard regulations. Candidates must also exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, a professional appearance, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in close quarters.

Job Requirements
- minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience
- minimum of two years experience selling and serving wine and beverage products
- intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills
- high school diploma or equivalent
- safety, environmental, public health and sanitation training
- ability to work seven days a week
- able to maintain balance while walking and standing
- able to climb ladders and stairs
- able to step over door sills up to 24 inches
- able to move through openings 24 inches by 24 inches
- able to open and close watertight doors up to 55 pounds
- able to move hands and arms in multiple directions and reach above shoulder height
- able to lift, carry, push or pull at least 40 pounds
- able to grasp and manipulate common tools
- able to crouch, kneel and crawl
- able to distinguish texture and temperature by touch
- able to stand for up to four hours with minimal rest
- able to react to visual and audible alarms

Job Qualifications
- minimum of two years experience as a front waiter with fine dining and banquet service experience in a 3-star to 4-star hotel, free-standing restaurant with at least 180 seats, or similar shipboard experience
- minimum of two years experience selling and serving wine and beverage products
- intermediate to advanced level English verbal and writing skills including proper grammar
- high school diploma, secondary education degree or equivalent
- training in safety, environmental, public health and sanitation regulations
- passionate about hospitality and customer service
- professional appearance and good hygiene
- respect for coworkers and guests
- able to work seven days a week
Job Duties
- assist with achieving departmental guest satisfaction targets and food and beverage revenues by following established service strategies and optimizing up-sell opportunities
- ensure assigned station is properly setup with required china, glassware, silverware and mis-en-place prior to service
- comply with sequence of service for food and beverage and follow instructions of waiters to ensure timeliness
- resolve service and product deficiencies to ensure guest satisfaction
- clean and set up assigned station at the end of meal periods and complete side-work
- deliver food, beverage orders and amenities to guest staterooms following company procedures
- clear service trays from staterooms, corridors and pantries in timely manner
