The Food Runner position at Oak View Group plays a vital role in supporting the service team and ensuring guests receive their food promptly and presented to the highest standards. This part-time role offers an hourly wage ranging from $9.00 to $12.00 and involves acting as a key liaison between the kitchen, servers, and guests. The Food Runner's responsibilities focus on transporting hot dishes hot and cold dishes cold, guaranteeing that food quality and presentation meet strict guidelines.

In addition to food delivery, the Food Runner assists with food preparation, garnish, and presentation within the kitchen. The role requires effective coordination with expeditors and servers to maximize operational efficiency, alongside maintaining cleanliness and stocking necessary condiments and supplies. The Food Runner ensures that all food handling aligns with sanitary practices to provide a safe dining experience. Beyond operational duties, this role demands exceptional interpersonal skills to respond positively to guest requests, comments, and concerns while contributing to a respectful and friendly atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and guests
  • Physical ability to stand and carry trays for extended periods
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must comply with health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a fast-paced food service environment preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude with co-workers, management staff, volunteers and guests
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, some holidays, and long hours
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate strength, including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing, and handling of materials
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Job Duties

  • Smile and maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Deliver food from kitchen to appropriate server and assist server with delivery of food to guests
  • Work with expeditor to ensure efficient delivery of food based on restaurant layout
  • Perform food preparation duties when needed
  • Follow all Chickie’s & Pete’s service standards
  • Check food for quality and presentation before serving. All food should be presented according to menu builds
  • Ensure food is transported and handled in a sanitary manner
  • Deliver to-go orders to Host/Hostess stand for guest pick-up
  • Assist in bussing and cleaning responsibilities
  • Ensure all condiments and napkin dispensers are clean and well-stocked
  • Respond appropriately to guest requests, comments and complaints and bring any issues to the attention of management
  • Complete beginning, change, and end of shift duties
  • Work efficiently and with a sense of urgency
  • Provide garnish for specified menu items according to Menu Build
  • Assist in keeping work areas clean
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings
  • Additional tasks as assigned by management
