Job Description
Maroon is an acclaimed dining establishment inspired by the rich history of the Jamaican Maroons, whose legacy is defined by resilience, resourcefulness, and perseverance. This ethos transcends the restaurant's culinary philosophy, encapsulating the roots of jerk cooking—a tradition born from survival, adaptation, and ingenuity. Owned and driven by James Beard Award-winning Chef Kwame Onwuachi, Maroon represents a bold and modern interpretation of Afro-Caribbean and West African cuisine. Chef Kwame's vision goes beyond serving food; he aims to craft a unique dining atmosphere that honors cultural identity, empowers local communities, and connects guests to a larger, meaningful narrative through every bite and experience.
Maroon is more than just a restaurant; it is a cultural hub, a place where tradition and innovation meet, bringing a fresh culinary voice to the fine dining scene. The restaurant emphasizes exceptional guest service and teamwork to uphold its reputation for excellence. The role at Maroon prioritizes a culture of positivity, respect, and proactive guest engagement. It is designed for individuals eager to contribute to a dynamic and guest-centric environment, where attention to detail, clear communication, and dedication to the team are paramount.
The available position focuses on essential service functions that keep the dining experience seamless and inviting. Key responsibilities include efficiently running food from the kitchen to designated stations, maintaining cleanliness and organization of service areas, and consistently delivering warm, professional service to every guest. A successful team member will anticipate guests’ needs by providing timely extras such as drinks and condiments, managing orders accurately, and collaborating closely with support staff to ensure smooth communication and operational flow. This role also involves assisting in the dining room service process, including replenishing supplies and promptly removing used dishes to maintain a polished environment.
The ideal candidate embraces a hospitality-driven attitude characterized by enthusiasm, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience working in fine dining, especially as a Bus Person, and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure, are highly desirable. The role demands individuals who take initiative, display professionalism, and contribute positively to a VIP-driven service setting. Candidates should be well-organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, and ready to go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued.
This position requires regular and predictable attendance, alongside compliance with health and safety standards, including obtaining a valid Nevada Food Handler Safety Training Card. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and demonstrate the ability to work as part of a cohesive team, saying 'yes' and 'thank you' often as a gesture of service excellence and positive workplace culture. At Maroon, employment means becoming part of a legacy—a commitment to quality food, outstanding service, and a meaningful guest experience that celebrates cultural heritage through culinary mastery.
