The Food Runner is a vital part of our service team, responsible for facilitating smooth and timely delivery of food orders from the kitchen to our guests. This role requires an individual who is attentive, courteous, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Food Runner ensures that each guest’s order is accurate and complete, including any sides or special requests, and serves food with the appropriate garnishments. Accuracy and speed are critical as the Food Runner often handles multiple orders simultaneously, especially during high-volume periods. This position also demands excellent communication skills to coordinate with both guests and servers, ensuring any special needs or requests are met promptly. Additionally, the Food Runner must be vigilant about food allergies and communicate any concerns immediately to management to maintain safety and compliance. Maintaining a clean and organized station, including clearing away dishes and debris, is also a core responsibility, contributing to the overall efficiency of the restaurant team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency degree preferred
  • related experience in a restaurant setting preferred
  • ability to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for entire shift
  • good sense of balance
  • ability to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, push and pull
  • ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work under pressure in a busy environment

Job Duties

  • Present self in a courteous and professional manner to guests
  • check orders for accuracy prior to serving including sides and extras
  • deliver food orders with appropriate garnishments
  • deliver food orders timely and simultaneously for multiple guests
  • communicate important information to guests such as hot plates and to servers such as guest requests for drinks
  • respond to guests’ requests for condiments or other items
  • continually clear away dishes and debris from stations
  • maintain knowledge of table numbers and restaurant layout to ensure prompt service
  • promptly report guests’ food allergy inquiries to management
  • ensure station meets company standards for serving
