Job Description

The hiring establishment is a vibrant family-style dining restaurant that prides itself on delivering exceptional guest experiences while maintaining a warm and inclusive atmosphere. This restaurant emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as part of its core culture and values. From the moment guests arrive until they leave, the staff ensures that the dining environment is welcoming, clean, and professional, providing top-tier hospitality and attention to every detail. Dedicated to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and service excellence, the restaurant supports a team-oriented approach where every employee plays a vital role in creating memorable dining experiences.

The role of Food Runner within this family-style restaurant is a dynamic and essential position that supports both the front of the house and kitchen staff by facilitating efficient and timely service. Food Runners are responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables and the bar with accuracy and speed, ensuring that every dish meets safety standards such as proper temperature control and ingredient modifications. This role requires strong communication skills to act as a liaison between the culinary team and guests, conveying important dietary needs or special requests.

Beyond delivery duties, Food Runners contribute to the overall dining experience by preparing the dining room, maintaining cleanliness, and addressing guest needs promptly. They ensure table settings are continually refreshed by removing finished courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling water glasses. Their vigilance extends to spotting and responding to guest spills or other special accommodations swiftly and professionally. At closing, Food Runners take part in deep cleaning the dining area, including cleaning chairs and tables, sweeping or vacuuming floors, and managing trash and recycling effectively.

The role demands physical stamina, mobility, and coordination, as it involves bending, lifting, and prolonged standing or walking in an environment that may be noisy, crowded, and subjected to varying temperatures. Candidates must be comfortable working in such conditions and able to maintain a calm, easygoing demeanor that promotes a fun, safe environment for guests and team members alike. Flexibility in scheduling is also necessary, with shifts potentially covering days off, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Ultimately, Food Runners embody the restaurant’s mission and vision by delivering family-style service with a personal touch and upholding the establishment’s core values. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality, good communication, teamwork, and maintaining a high standard of service in a lively, inclusive setting.
