Dust Bowl is a vibrant dining establishment known for its dedication to delivering high-quality dishes and exceptional guest experiences. As a renowned restaurant that prides itself on quality and customer satisfaction, Dust Bowl maintains a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where employees are valued and encouraged to contribute to the overall success of the business. The establishment emphasizes teamwork, professionalism, and a friendly atmosphere, making it an excellent workplace for individuals passionate about the hospitality industry. Dust Bowl is committed to supporting its staff with ongoing training and opportunities for growth while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for guests and employees alike.
The Food Runner role at Dust Bowl is a critical position responsible for maintaining the high standards the restaurant is known for regarding meal quality, portion sizes, and presentation. This role serves as the essential link between the front of house and back of house teams by organizing and coordinating the delivery of meals to guests promptly. The Food Runner ensures that servers, bartenders, and chefs work in harmony by communicating dish priorities, facilitating kitchen synchronization, and managing ticket times efficiently.
Additionally, the Food Runner coordinates and manages Beer Garden orders, communicates with guests at the food window and taproom, and ensures that every interaction contributes to a positive dining experience. This part-time, variable-hour position requires flexibility to work during core hours which may include days, evenings, and weekends. The compensation starts at $16.90 per hour plus tips, reflecting the importance of this role in delivering top-tier service.
In this position, the Food Runner is expected to handle multiple duties including setting up service stations, preparing sauces, assisting kitchen staff, managing POS systems for orders, pre-busing tables, and maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, capable of multitasking in a busy, often humid environment with physical demands such as standing for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking continuously during shifts.
Dust Bowl prioritizes employee safety and respect, requiring all team members to complete harassment and workplace violence prevention trainings. The Food Runner must hold a Certified Food Safety Certificate and Food Handlers certificate to uphold the restaurant's health and safety standards.
Overall, this role offers an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who thrive in a lively hospitality setting to join a team that values quality service, teamwork, and guest satisfaction. Dust Bowl encourages career growth and offers benefits including a 401(k) plan with company matching and employee discounts. They also welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and encourage those with criminal records to apply, emphasizing inclusivity and equal opportunity.
