Job Description
Duffy's is a popular restaurant known for offering a welcoming dining experience with a focus on delivering quality food and excellent customer service. As a well-established food service establishment, Duffy's prides itself on creating an inviting atmosphere where guests feel comfortable and valued. As a food runner at Duffy's, you will play an essential role in supporting the service team by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of the dining area.
The role of a Food Runner at Duffy's involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring guests receive their meals efficiently while maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining and service areas. Food Runners assist servers and bartenders by transporting completed food orders from the kitchen directly to guests’ tables or the bar. This role requires attention to detail to ensure orders are accurate and presented attractively, including garnishing and positioning foods to enhance visibility and accessibility.
In addition to delivering food, the Food Runner also maintains adequate supplies during shifts, such as ice, plates, glasses, and sauces, which are crucial to ongoing service flow. This position requires handling used tableware by scraping, stacking, and carrying dirty dishes back to the kitchen for cleaning, as well as cleaning up any spills, broken dishes, or trash to maintain a safe and pleasant environment.
The Food Runner at Duffy's also supports the kitchen staff by performing side duties like restocking plates from the dish pit to the line, pre-portioning condiments in ramekin cups, and packaging to-go orders accurately. Some expo tasks may be required, including dessert preparation, adding sides and sauces to entrees, and ticketing orders ready for service. Effective communication and a cooperative attitude are essential as this role involves constant interaction with coworkers and guests.
The job demands physical endurance and agility as it involves standing and walking for long periods, lifting up to 40 pounds, and multitasking various activities. Attention to detail, dependability, cooperation, and integrity are qualities emphasized for the Food Runner to succeed in providing excellent service while working efficiently under pressure. The environment requires maintaining composure, handling stress, and adapting to change, all while keeping a positive and professional approach toward guests and coworkers.
Overall, working as a Food Runner at Duffy's offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment ideal for individuals who enjoy active roles in food service. It is an opportunity to be part of a team committed to high standards of hospitality and to gain experience in the vibrant restaurant industry.
