The role of Food Runner / Busser at First Hospitality plays a vital part in enhancing the guest experience within the hotel’s restaurants. This position is essential in ensuring that food and beverage items are delivered promptly and accurately, maintaining the smooth operation of service floors. Food Runners / Bussers work closely with servers, bartenders, cooks, dishwashers, and managers to achieve superior guest satisfaction. The role requires effective communication skills and a proactive mindset to meet and exceed guest expectations consistently.

Food Runners / Bussers are responsible for preparing and maintaining the restaurant environment, including cleaning and stocking supplies, retrieving and delivering guest orders, and clearing tables efficiently. They are expected to greet guests warmly with charisma and personalized communication, demonstrate knowledge of menu offerings, and collaborate with kitchen and bar staff regarding special requests. The position demands physical stamina, as it involves standing for extended periods, frequent walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Job Requirements

  • You must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Able to stand for hours at a time
  • Able to grasp, stand, walk, bend, reach, pivot, and stoop often and repeatedly

Job Qualifications

  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred but not required
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Knowledge of food and beverage products is a plus
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback positively

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparing the restaurant by cleaning and stocking as needed
  • Proactively obtain necessary supplies from storage areas and prep for use
  • Retrieve guest food and/or beverage orders and accurately and efficiently deliver to the guest
  • Provide each guest an individualized greeting using charisma and stylized communication
  • Confidently know the current food and beverage offerings and answer questions or make recommendations
  • Notify bar and kitchen staff of special requests or needs, and work as a team to deliver on expectations
  • Maintain cleanliness of restaurant spaces to be inviting and accommodating
  • Clear unneeded items from tables throughout and after the guest dining experience
  • Dispose of trash and deliver used dish- and bar-ware to the appropriate location
  • Effectively communicate with restaurant staff and management to ensure quality guest experiences and smooth restaurant operation
  • Complete additional duties as assigned as part of a team dynamic
