Job Description
The hiring establishment is a fine dining restaurant known for its commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience through attentive service and high-quality food offerings. This restaurant prides itself on its well-trained staff and a dynamic team environment where each member plays a key role in maintaining excellence both in the front of house and back of house operations. The food runner position is a critical role within this setting, acting as the essential link between the kitchen and the guests to ensure the accuracy and quality of dining orders. As part of the restaurant team, the food runner’s responsibilities go beyond merely delivering dishes; they must also be knowledgeable about menu items, including ingredients and allergens, to assist guests confidently and accurately.
This role is typically offered on a full-time or part-time basis with a competitive hourly wage depending on experience and shift timings. The food runner supports efficient communication between servers and kitchen staff, maintains cleanliness and organization in the expeditor area, and helps to create a welcoming dining atmosphere by addressing any guest inquiries with a friendly and professional demeanor. Employees in this position must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate the restaurant’s busy schedule.
In-depth knowledge of menu items and allergen information is essential since the food runner is often the frontline contact for guest questions regarding their dishes. This role requires attentiveness to detail to double-check orders ensuring that every plate reaching the guest matches the ticket exactly and meets the restaurant’s high standards for accuracy and presentation. Additionally, a food runner is expected to upkeep the cleanliness and organization of working stations, perform routine cleaning duties, and restock supplies as needed. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced environment are crucial to success in this position.
Being a food runner here not only involves the physical aspects of the job such as standing for extended periods, walking, and lifting food trays up to 30 pounds but also engages employees in a customer-centric environment where teamwork and communication are essential. Candidates who can demonstrate reliability, time management, and an enthusiastic team spirit will find this role rewarding and a valuable step in their hospitality career. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about fine dining service to contribute directly to customer satisfaction and the restaurant's reputation for excellence.
