The Food Runner is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in back-of-house areas, contributing to a safe and pleasant environment for both guests and staff. The Food Runner plays a crucial role in ensuring that each order is correct, working closely with chefs and expeditors to resolve any discrepancies before food reaches the table. This position also requires physical endurance, as it involves standing, walking, carrying plates and trays, and working in conditions that may include moderate noise and occasional exposure to wet or humid environments. Certification such as ServSafe or TIPS is required, reflecting our commitment to food safety and responsible alcohol service. Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ServSafe Certified or TIPS equivalent
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Meets state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages

Job Qualifications

  • High school education or up to one-month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous experience as a food runner or similar entry-level role in a restaurant
  • ServSafe Certified (Food Handler & Alcohol) or TIPS equivalent
  • Ability to read and speak English
  • Meets state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages
  • Strong ability to multitask

Job Duties

  • Assures that all material used by server and expeditor is clean and ready for daily operation
  • Possesses knowledge of the position of each diner’s chair in the dining rooms and lounges
  • Sets the outside line with under liner plates, flatware, doilies, linen napkins and any other items needed for the delivering of food
  • Organizes the plates in the window and matches each one with each ticket to run the food out to the tables
  • Sets tables in accordance with facility standards
  • Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
  • Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
  • Ensures that each menu item is prepared in the exact detail outlined on each ticket
  • Delivers food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
  • Corrects the menu item with the chef or expeditor before delivering the menu item to meet the exact specification on the ticket
  • Removes any place settings not being used
  • Clears dishes located in front of guest upon completion of course
  • Keeps work stations well stocked of items and ingredients
  • Cleans workstations, takes out trash, and vacuums the dining room
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Performs other duties as required
