The role of the Food Runner is an integral position within the dining service team. As a Food Runner, you will be responsible for ensuring that food is delivered promptly and accurately to guests, supporting food servers, and aiding in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining area. This position requires efficiency, attention to detail, and a professional, courteous demeanor to contribute to an outstanding guest experience. The Food Runner will engage in multiple tasks such as resetting tables, clearing dishes, stocking service stations, and assisting in general cleaning and maintenance duties. With shifts typically ranging between 8 to 10 hours, team members must be physically capable of managing the demands of the job, including lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Job Requirements

  • any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • prior hospitality experience preferred
  • needs to be flexible, self-motivated and positive and have a professional attitude towards guests, co-workers and management
  • must also be able to perform all related duties as assigned
  • high School diploma or equivalent

Job Qualifications

  • complete knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware
  • basic knowledge of all menus and wine list
  • work efficiently as a team member
  • knowledge of restaurant layout
  • observe all safety procedures during the execution of assigned duties
  • observe all restaurant policies regarding uniform, hygiene and grooming
  • ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, communicate with guests to explain and record orders

Job Duties

  • prepare any necessary set up to perform the job properly (complete side-work)
  • deliver food to guests and tables in a timely, orderly fashion
  • quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare table for resetting
  • promptly, quietly and consistently reset all service ware as prescribed
  • transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning
  • keep the workstation clean
  • perform general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards
  • perform other duties as requested, such as cleaning unexpected spills or special guest requests, to ensure total guest satisfaction
  • remove the garbage bags/bin from restaurant and bar
  • report to your supervisor before ending your shift
  • complete all other projects as requested by management
  • attend pre-shift meeting to review/communicate information regarding service, VIP guests, specials, etc.
  • consistent attendance at company/restaurant training programs as they are scheduled
