Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, Taproom Manager, and General Manager, the Food Runner serves as a vital link between the front of house and kitchen operations, overseeing the timely and efficient delivery of food orders while upholding the highest standards of food quality and presentation.\n\nThe Food Runner is responsible for organizing and coordinating meal delivery to guests, skillfully managing orders and tags across the front and back of house. This role also involves managing Beer Garden orders via the point of sale system for guest pickup while ensuring guest satisfaction at the food window, taproom tables, and private room areas. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong communication skills to synchronize kitchen activities, prioritize dishes, and maintain smooth operation flow during busy service periods. Key duties include station setup, food prep support, order completion, POS operation, cleanliness maintenance, and proactive guest interaction. Additionally, the role demands physical stamina to handle extended periods of standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing various kitchen support tasks in a fast-paced, hot, and humid indoor environment.\n\nIn this position, attention to detail, organization, task management, and customer service are paramount. The Food Runner must ensure every guest's needs are met, efficiently communicate with servers and bartenders regarding special requests or upcharges, and uphold Dust Bowl's food safety standards by possessing current food safety and handler certifications. Job Requirements

  • Certified Food Safety Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and/or cooking or 2 years experience in FOH bussing or serving
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar capacity (Food Expo)
  • Must possess a Food Handlers certificate
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods up to 8 hours
  • Ability to continuously walk for prolonged periods up to 8 hours
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to reach, bend, and stoop continuously
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Must be able to speak and hear
  • Flexible availability for day, evening, and weekend work
  • Completion and maintenance of Dust Bowl’s Harassment Prevention and Workplace Violence Prevention trainings

Job Qualifications

  • Professional and respectful communication with managers, kitchen, guests, taproom staff, and personnel

Job Duties

  • Set up, prep, stock, rotate, and re-stock stations for opening service
  • Prepare a variety of sauces according to prep lists, delegate by priority
  • Communicate with supervisors, line cooks, and servers when stock and/or items are running low
  • Finish all take-out orders
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with items they may need
  • Provide servers, bartenders, and guests with needed condiments, salads, sides, etc.
  • Maintain cleanliness and efficiency in assigned areas during service
  • Operate POS for takeout and Beer Garden orders
  • Interact with guests in a professional and friendly manner
  • Help pre-bus tables and take bus tubs back to the dish pit
  • Verify all guest needs are met with every table touch and communicate all needs to server/bartender that cannot be done personally
  • Manage POS/KDS screens, upcharges, and special request instructions with FOH and BOH
  • Shut down, clean, and sanitize stations
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by kitchen leads and/or Managers
