Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, nutrition, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in food industry labeling or regulatory roles
- Proficiency in Genesis R&D software or equivalent nutritional labeling software
- Knowledge of U.S. and international food labeling regulations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work full time onsite in Stratford, CT from Monday to Friday
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to adhere to company policies and confidentiality agreements
Job Qualifications
- 4-year degree in food science or nutrition with coursework in food labeling and nutrition standards
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in the food industry
- Knowledge of nutritional, labeling and regulatory standards
- Familiarity with 21 U.S.C. § 2101 regulations
- Proficiency with Genesis software or labeling programs
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills
- Ability to collaborate with various departments
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
Job Duties
- Obtain USDA packaging approval on applicable products
- Handle multiple label packaging projects working cross-functionally and execute responsibilities with a high degree of thoroughness
- Update nutritional database and corresponding ingredient specification information using Genesis R&D software or equivalent
- Create and maintain finished product specifications
- Proof packaging artwork for accurate information at each stage in the design process (e.g., initial graphics review, printing, production, etc.)
- Clarify necessary revisions with the graphics department and ensure follow-up through effective written and verbal communication
- Review finished product packaging specification against ingredient specifications, nutritional software, and label approvals for accuracy
- Communicate up-to-date information on current US/International labeling and food product regulations to internal and external stakeholders
- Update workflow for label reviews, product reviews, and sign-off on processes needed by required business teams
- Maintain documentation to support on-package claims (non-GMO, organic, gluten-free, etc.)
- Maintain a system/database of final packaging and/or labels to include supporting documentation needed for compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management
