The role of the Food Production/Service Assistant is pivotal within the culinary services team, reporting directly to the Director of Culinary Services. The assistant's main responsibilities include preparing and serving hot and cold menu items for both station and catering services promptly and according to established standards. This role demands a strong adherence to food safety protocols and sanitation practices to ensure the highest quality of products and customer satisfaction.

In this capacity, the Production/Service Assistant will prepare cold food items, assist with hot food preparations, and ensure stations are fully stocked, rotated, and prepped for service. The role also requires maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift, including thorough cleaning of kitchen equipment such as ovens, deep fryers, char broilers, and hood filters. Beyond food preparation, the assistant will interact with customers courteously, contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines, and collaborate effectively with chefs and cooks, especially during catering events. This position actively participates in ensuring compliance with an A health code rating as per Los Angeles County Public Health requirements.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepares cold food items and preps hot food items for regular service and catering, following department policies, practices, and standardized recipes
  • Ensures that all items for the assigned station are prepped, rotated, and stocked
  • Takes responsibility for job duties and adapts positively to changing business needs
  • Consistently delivers the freshest and highest quality products while paying close attention to deadlines and timelines
  • Offers exceptional customer service and interacts with customers in a gracious manner
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation at the station(s) throughout the shift and ensures a thorough cleaning before leaving for the day
  • Assists chefs and cooks with cooking or plating items to order in a timely manner when assigned to catering events or stations in the Marketplace
  • Ensures the safety of staff, guests, food, equipment, and the facility at all times
  • Performs all duties safely and helps in identifying and preventing hazards
  • Utilizes appropriate safety signs and equipment
