The role of Production Manager at The Fresh Market is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the production department to ensure the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction. The Production Manager leads a team that supports multiple departments such as Deli, Meat-Seafood, Bakery, and Produce, managing all aspects of product preparation, inventory handling, and team training. This fast-paced role requires a passion for excellence, efficiency, and the ability to motivate team members to deliver first-class experiences for guests. The Production Manager works closely with team members during early morning hours, coordinating the preparation of meats, cheeses, breads, produce, and other convenient meal solutions while maintaining strict quality standards. This position reports directly to the Store Operations Manager and embodies the company’s culture of leadership, hospitality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities include managing production schedules to align with store hours, reducing product shrinkage and damage, receiving and stocking goods with proper rotation, and training team members through The Fresh Market Academy to uphold safety and efficiency. The Production Manager also provides coaching and development opportunities to enhance team performance and retention. The role requires adherence to all safety and food safety regulations to maintain compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Ideal candidates possess at least one year of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or business environments, along with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Food safety certification or the ability to obtain it post-hire is necessary, and candidates must be at least 21 years old.

Preferred qualifications include an associate’s degree in business or retail management or equivalent experience, familiarity with grocery or fresh food retail settings, knowledge of inventory and financial reporting systems, and bilingual skills. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and use various equipment such as knives, ladders, and pallet jacks. This role offers a schedule from 3 am to 11 am, typically with Sundays and Wednesdays off. Job Duties

  • Direct, manage, and assist all functions of the production department and demonstrate excellence for your team and guests
  • manage production for key items to support deli-cms, meat-seafood, bakery, and produce departments
  • properly receive and stock goods following rotation standards when replenishing product levels
  • manage product to reduce shrink/damage
  • direct teams to handle, cut, and prepare department’s meat, cheeses, bread, prepacked produce, and convenient meal solutions while maintaining quality product levels
  • provide team members through The Fresh Market Academy including on-the-job and online training to ensure excellent guest service and minimize product loss
  • lead, engage, motivate, and manage team members to provide excellent guest service
  • provide coaching for team members to further development and increase retention
  • create and manage team schedules aligning production to support guest shopping hours
  • ensure department adherence to all safety requirements and protocols including food safety per TFM policies and law
