The Sodexo Food Service Production Manager 3 will be based at the US Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in San Diego, CA, a critical location that operates a rotating and varied menu comprising specialty bars and fast food options. This dining facility functions seven days a week, throughout the entire year, serving over 3 million meals annually to the esteemed men and women of the U.S. Marine Corps. The Food Service Production Manager 3 plays a pivotal role in ensuring high food quality standards, maintaining cash control, managing payroll records, and supporting various financial and HR functions. A strong emphasis on exceptional customer service and team leadership is essential, as this position involves supervising both Sodexo and contract employees in a highly structured and high-profile environment.

Working closely under the direction of the General Manager, this role requires expertise in large volume food production and proficiency in handling food safety guidelines such as ServSafe certification and HACCP procedures. Responsibilities extend to overseeing the front-of-house operations, training staff, team building, and strategic planning and scheduling to ensure seamless food production and workplace safety. The position demands a proactive approach to cost control, including labor management, inventory oversight, and equipment usage. It also requires the ability to maintain a safe work environment that complies with regulatory and Sodexo standards, facilitating a culture of safety for both food and physical space.

Job Duties

  • utilizes sodexo resources, recipes, systems and programs to direct daily operations including food production, inventory, product deliveries, invoices, and procurement operations
  • ensures employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their job, and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines as assigned
  • establishes and maintains a safe work environment including both food and physical safety in order to comply with all regulatory and sodexo standards
  • complies with budget requirements by controlling costs (i.e. labor, inventory, equipment, materials) and making adjustments when necessary
  • supervises employees by delegating, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring operating standards
