The Food Production Manager role at Sodexo's NYC Health + Hospitals Culinary Center in Brooklyn offers an exciting opportunity to lead large-scale healthcare food production efforts that directly impact patient care across New York City. This high-volume cook-chill/commissary production environment is responsible for preparing and distributing nutritious, safe, and high-quality meals to multiple healthcare facilities, supporting their mission to provide excellent patient services.

The Food Production Manager will oversee the daily cook-chill food production operations, ensuring all food is properly prepped, cooked, cooled, and staged for distribution. They will monitor critical food safety processes like retherm standards, blast chilling, holding times, and temperature compliance according to Department of Health and regulatory guidelines.

Leading a team of approximately 15 union employees, including cooks, food service aides, and frontline supervisors, the Food Production Manager will foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and productivity. Strong leadership skills are essential to maintain Sodexo's zero-harm safety culture and promote adherence to safe work practices and established safety programs. In addition to food safety, the role demands strict enforcement of sanitation, hygiene, and HACCP compliance, including accurate production logs and adherence to opening and closing procedures.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • minimum 1 year management experience
  • ServSafe certification required upon hire
  • ability to work in a refrigerated production environment with protective clothing provided
  • experience working in unionized settings
  • strong communication and leadership abilities

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of retherm systems batch cooking blast chilling and large-scale meal distribution processes

  • ServSafe certification required upon hire

Job Duties
