The role of Machine Operator 2 at Groupe Bonduelle Fresh Americas is vital within the production plant. This position is responsible for ensuring that production equipment, including Atlas Operator, ABL Operator, Pasteurizer Operator, and Clean Room Operator machinery, is functioning correctly and efficiently. The Machine Operator 2 will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of quality and safety by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Safety protocols, Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and sanitation guidelines. The operator conducts pre-shift and post-shift inspections, including checks of blades, wash systems, lubricants, and sanitization procedures, while also identifying equipment inefficiencies and performing preventative maintenance when necessary. The position requires executing start-up procedures such as managing filters, flumes, and wash tanks, and expertly managing water levels in pasteurization systems to ensure optimal product processing.

Machine Operator 2 must also validate knife utilization based on product specifications to ensure cut dimensions meet order requirements and maintain uninterrupted production flow by managing production needs, prioritizing tasks, overseeing changeovers, and minimizing downtime. Additional responsibilities include customizing chemical mixtures to prevent product spoilage while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, performing visual quality checks on defects, foreign objects, size, color, and other quality parameters. The role demands the ability to adapt and multitask across multiple positions within the plant environment.

This role requires physical endurance to work in a cold, wet, and fast-paced 24-hour plant environment with exposure to extreme cold and loud noise levels. Employees should be capable of moving heavy objects, standing or sitting for long periods, climbing stairs or ladders, and working in difficult environmental conditions. Effective communication skills and the ability to assess surroundings are critical for success in this role. Job Requirements

  • Ability to move about within fast paced environment and traverse between maintenance shop and production floor
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs or ladder for repairs
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and cold environment of 34 degrees
  • Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Must be able to detect, identify, inspect, observe, and assess surroundings

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with and maintain all GMP/PPE/Safety, SQF, HACCP & Sanitation guidelines and processes
  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections for quality, machine lubricant, and sanitization
  • Identify equipment inefficiencies and perform preventative maintenance of equipment when applicable
  • Execute start-up procedures including filter, flume, wash tanks management
  • Manage and disperse appropriate water levels among all branches of flumes utilizing pasteurizer systems
  • Identify appropriate knife utilization dependent on product specification and validate cut dimensions
  • Maintain uninterrupted flow of product by identifying production needs, managing changeovers and clean breaks to minimize downtime
  • Customize chemical mixture to protect product spoilage while ensuring compliance with food safety regulations
  • Perform visual quality checks including defects, foreign objects, size, color, and quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned
