The role demands a thorough understanding of food preparation principles, adherence to hygiene and safety regulations, and proficiency in using kitchen tools and equipment. You will be responsible for setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, cooking foods using different methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming, as well as garnishing and portioning dishes. Maintaining cleanliness, sanitization, and compliance with food safety policies is crucial, along with delivering excellent customer service and contributing positively to the team environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience in a commercial kitchen or food production environment
  • valid food safety certification
  • ability to follow recipes and production guidelines accurately
  • strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety
  • effective communication skills
  • physical capability to perform kitchen duties including lifting and standing for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in cooking or a comparable role
  • confirmed grasp of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking techniques, and compliance with food safety regulations including accurate food handling, cleanliness, and storage procedures
  • fulfillment of food safety certification requirements
  • proficiency in basic math operations and numerical counting
  • interpersonal communication skills including written and verbal communication
  • ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing

Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers
  • bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • maintains excellent customer service and a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers
  • adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including accurate food safety and sanitation
  • ensures security of company assets
