The Food Prep Person role at Golden Corral is a vital part of the team, as it supports the daily preparation and presentation of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other buffet offerings. This role is responsible for the meticulous cutting, slicing, peeling, and prepping of fresh produce, which serves as a cornerstone for the Cold Choice Buffet—a prominent feature that highlights the freshness and high quality of the Golden Corral dining experience. This individual will follow specific product specifications and recipes outlined by Golden Corral to maintain consistency and operational excellence across all food prep duties.

This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining inventory, labeling, dating, and rotating stocks to ensure all food items are stored correctly and meet safety standards. The Food Prep Person also contributes to keeping the buffet fully stocked, clean, and attractive to guests by assisting buffet attendants during meal periods. An understanding of just-in-time delivery practices and compliance with local health department laws are critical in maintaining the safety and quality of all food items.

Moreover, this role extends beyond food prep to include cleaning and organizing prep areas, coolers, and equipment to ensure the working environment is safe, clean, and efficient. The Food Prep Person actively participates in achieving excellent customer service by performing administrative tasks and interacting with guests when necessary. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food preparation preferred
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality standards
  • Must comply with all safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team and guests

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares fresh fruits and vegetables according to product specifications and recipes
  • Maintains inventory based on Prep Production Guide and updates as directed
  • Ensures optimum yield of products during the product cycle
  • Labels, dates, and rotates bulk produce and prepped items
  • Stores all food items in approved, covered containers
  • Uses buffet production system to ensure quality and shelf life compliance
  • Notifies management of discrepancies such as spoilage and waste
  • Assists buffet attendants in maintaining a full and clean buffet
  • Cleans and organizes prep areas, coolers, equipment, and dry storage
  • Follows local health department laws and safety standards
  • Performs administrative tasks and assists guests during meal periods
