This full-time position offers employment with competitive pay ranging from $17.50 to $18.00 per hour. The role requires availability for both days and evenings, ensuring that the store operates smoothly across different shifts. This position is integral to maintaining the store's high standards in merchandising, customer satisfaction, safety, and operational efficiency.

The primary focus of this role is food merchandising, which involves adhering to company guidelines to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for ensuring that grocery deliveries are accurate, merchandise is stocked efficiently, attractively displayed, and correctly priced. This includes preparing build-to orders for inventory management, checking deliveries, verifying invoices, and addressing any discrepancies. Display preparation, product rotation focused on quality and freshness, and maintaining an attractive food preparation area are essential duties.

Customer interaction is a vital component of this role. You will provide prompt, courteous, and friendly service while resolving routine customer concerns adhering to company policies. Greeting customers and ensuring they have a positive experience will be central to your daily activities.

Facility condition management is equally important. This involves maintaining a safe and clean work environment by adhering to cleanliness procedures, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing windows, counters, store areas, and bathrooms. You will be responsible for inspecting store facilities and equipment to ensure operational safety, cleanliness, and adherence to health standards.

Financial control responsibilities include notifying the Store Manager of any inventory or operational discrepancies, receiving and verifying vendor deliveries, and following product breakage or spoilage guidelines. Staffing controls require supervising food preparation employees in the absence of the Store Manager, helping train new employees, managing staffing based on customer traffic, and assisting in employee counseling.

The role also demands strict adherence to internal and external controls, including compliance with government laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies. Security control duties involve helping maintain a safe environment for employees and customers, protecting company assets, and reporting any incidents or suspicious activities.

Administrative tasks are part of the job responsibilities, including attending meetings, maintaining workflow by fostering cooperation, complying with company policies, keeping accurate time records, and performing other duties as assigned by management. This position requires working with minimal supervision and entails physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds, working in temperature extremes, and standing or walking for entire shifts.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months to 1 year of retail store or food service work experience or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
  • Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles including planning and organizing, resource management and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to deal with customers, unanticipated problems or events using standard procedures
  • Ability to work as scheduled including arriving to work on time
  • Ability to accurately operate a variety of equipment including hot or cold or beverage dispensers, grills, ovens or fry stations and other machines or tools

  • Ability to work in described conditions including exposure to cold and noise
  • Ability to work with minimum direction and periodic supervision

Job Duties

  • Complies with company guidelines for maximizing sales, profitability and customer service by ensuring all grocery deliveries are accurate, stocked, attractively displayed and priced correctly
  • Completes build-to’s for ordering/purchasing merchandise
  • Maintains inventory by checking in delivery, pricing items, stocking merchandise according to schematic
  • Validates deliveries by verifying invoices, reviewing discrepancies with Store Manager, delivers outdated merchandise to Store Manager
  • Prepares displays by assembling, dating and price marking in-store displays
  • Rotates food items, monitors quality and freshness measures
  • Monitors and maintains food preparation area and display cases
  • Assists training new associates with emphasis on customer service
  • Monitors and organizes inventory to prevent stock-outs
  • Coaches food service staff to use suggestive selling
  • Makes price changes and places advertising signage
  • Provides prompt excellent customer service
  • Greets and thanks customers
  • Resolves routine customer concerns
  • Reports to work on time and follows dress code
