The role at Jimbo’s involves working closely with the deli counter staff to provide customers with quality food prepared in a clean and sanitary environment. The position entails numerous responsibilities aimed at maintaining the health standards and operational efficiency of the deli kitchen. The employee will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment and work areas, assisting chefs with food preparation, managing waste and laundry tasks, and following strict food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination. Ensuring that the kitchen is organized and all products are stored properly according to health department regulations is also a part of the job. The role requires a hands-on approach to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout the kitchen and back dock areas, as well as adhering to company policies and customer service standards. Flexibility and the ability to work under varied conditions including different temperatures and physically demanding situations are essential. The successful candidate will have a friendly and approachable personality, be able to follow direction from supervisors, and hold or be willing to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate within a specified timeframe. Physical stamina is important as the job involves lifting heavy items, standing and walking for long periods, and performing repetitive motions. Job Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout any assigned shift unassisted
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb and balance on a step stool ladder
  • Ability to stoop kneel and crouch
  • Ability to sustain repetitive arm and hand motion

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow Department of Health regulations and complete Food Handler’s Certificate within 10 days of employment
  • Friendly outgoing personality
  • Ability to accept direction from various people

Job Duties

  • Clean wash sanitize and put away kitchen equipment pots pans and utensils in an organized fashion
  • Maintain 3-compartment sink in compliance with Health Department regulations
  • Assist chefs with food preparation by following the assigned daily production list
  • Check trashcans recycle bins periodically and empty and wash as needed
  • Transfer dirty hand towels into laundry basket
  • Sweep and mop the walk-in and kitchen floor every shift and follow cleaning checklists
  • Put away any orders and or product in proper locations
  • Maintain quality food handling standards by practicing proper food preparation including proper handling of food to avoid cross contamination proper cooling of hot foods proper rotation and ensuring all food items stored in walk-in are properly covered labeled and dated
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with Health Department regulations which includes cleaning the back dock dish area and hand sinks
  • Proactively assist customers within the guidelines outlined in our Customer Service Standards
