Recently, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters expanded its offerings by introducing a new wood-fired pizza concept at its "The Village" location just off La Jolla Village Drive. This exciting venture features Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas that reflect the same dedication to quality and craftsmanship found in their coffee. To support this expansion, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is seeking a Wood-Fired Pizza Food Service Member to join their team.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about food and eager to learn in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. While previous experience is not required, familiarity with Neapolitan-style pizza is considered a plus. The position involves a variety of essential duties, including food preparation such as chopping vegetables, preparing pizza doughs, and making sauces; hands-on pizza crafting at the outdoor wood-fired oven; maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen tools and workstations; and providing excellent customer service by engaging positively with patrons. This role requires working outdoors at the wood-fired oven, handling the cooking process while managing various environmental factors.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for long periods and working in outdoor conditions
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and evenings
- Must be able to follow safety and hygiene protocols
- Reliable transportation or means to arrive at the workplace
- Legal authorization to work in the country
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience is not required but recommended
- Passion for food and willingness to learn
- Experience with Neapolitan-style pizza is a bonus
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude
Job Duties
- Assist in preparing ingredients for pizzas including chopping vegetables preparing dough and making sauces
- Learn and participate in the process of crafting signature wood-fired pizzas
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by washing dishes utensils and kitchen equipment
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner taking orders answering questions and ensuring a positive experience
- Work at the outdoor pizza oven ensuring pizzas are cooked to perfection while managing the outdoor environment
