This role offers the opportunity for a motivated Food Operations Manager to contribute significantly to elevating patient experience within a complex healthcare setting. As the Food Operations Manager at Yale New Haven Hospital, you will spearhead the management of daily patient service operations, ensuring superior meal service quality and consistency throughout the facility. This position involves overseeing the diet office and menu processes, supporting specialized diet compliance necessary in a healthcare environment. You will work collaboratively with Patient Experience Managers, clinical teams, and frontline staff to implement best practices that enhance patient satisfaction and optimize regulatory compliance.

Beyond operational oversight, this role demands a keen focus on patient-centered service delivery. The manager will lead efforts in service recovery, meal rounding, and tray assessments to guarantee food quality, presentation, and meal accuracy. This position also requires strategic leadership to monitor and achieve key performance indicators, manage budget adherence, and prepare for regulatory inspections and audits. The Food Operations Manager will provide direct supervision, coaching, and development of frontline employees to foster a culture of compassion, accountability, and service excellence, aligning with Sodexo's CARES behaviors. Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants fast food vending catering services institutional services mall food courts etc
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to maintain high standards and implement policies effectively
  • Passion for delivering an exceptional patient and customer experience
  • Experience in healthcare food service or patient dining operations
  • Knowledge of nutrition therapeutic diets and diet office functions
  • Experience collaborating with nursing and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience developing and engaging frontline teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead and support daily patient services operations ensuring high-quality meal service and operational consistency
  • Oversee diet office operations menu processes and support specialized diet compliance
  • Evaluate and develop service levels across the Patient Services Program to exceed patient and customer satisfaction goals
  • Support Sodexo’s Patient Dining Program including daily meal rounding and service recovery efforts
  • Collaborate with clinical food service and interdisciplinary teams to enhance the patient experience
  • Perform tray assessments to ensure food quality presentation and meal accuracy
  • Drive achievement of key performance indicators KPIs budget adherence and operational goals
  • Support successful Gold Checks regulatory inspections and audit readiness
  • Provide direct supervision coaching and development of frontline hourly employees
  • Foster a culture of compassion accountability and service excellence through Sodexo CARES behaviors
