The Food Operations Manager 3 role at Yale New Haven Hospital - York Street Campus presents a unique leadership opportunity for a seasoned healthcare food service professional. This pivotal position is responsible for managing patient dining services in a fast-paced, acute hospital environment, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to health and safety regulations. Reporting directly to the Client Executive 2, the manager will spearhead multiple facets of the patient food service operations, including menu planning, diet office management, patient satisfaction initiatives, regulatory compliance, and the growth and development of frontline service teams.

The role demands a dynamic leader capable of collaborating across multiple disciplines including clinical teams, patient experience managers, and hospital executives to consistently enhance the dining experience. Food quality, presentation, and accuracy are of utmost importance, and the Food Operations Manager 3 will conduct tray assessments to uphold these standards. This position is also responsible for monitoring and achieving key performance indicators and managing the operational budget efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of management experience
  • Minimum three years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Job Duties

  • Lead daily patient dining and food service operations in a large acute care hospital setting
  • Oversee menu development and diet office operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
  • Drive patient satisfaction through meal rounding, service recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with clinical, food service, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance the overall patient experience
  • Conduct tray assessments to ensure food quality, presentation, and meal accuracy
  • Monitor and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs), operational goals, and budget expectations
  • Ensure readiness for regulatory inspections, audits, and Sodexo Gold Checks
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop frontline employees and supervisors
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence
