Sodexo's Campus Segment is currently seeking a skilled and proactive Operations Manager for Campus Dining at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals who have a passion for hospitality and food service management, particularly within a university setting. As part of Sodexo's dining leadership team, the Operations Manager will oversee the comprehensive dining program, including resident dining services, multiple retail food locations, catering operations, and concessions. The role demands a hands-on manager who excels in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and inspiring a diverse team of managers and employees, ensuring that service standards are consistently met or exceeded. This includes coaching and developing staff within a unionized environment, managing budgets, inventory, and financial performance, and cultivating strong relationships with the client—Merrimack College—to ensure that both operational goals and student satisfaction are achieved. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Progressive management experience in food service or hospitality, college/university experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and motivate large teams
  • Experience managing financials, budgets, and P&L performance
  • Demonstrated success with retail dining operations, safety programs, and quality assurance
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Union management experience a plus
  • A passion for hospitality and commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience

Job Duties

  • Lead daily operations for resident dining, retail locations, and catering functions
  • Ensure consistent adherence to Sodexo’s service standards, safety, and compliance programs
  • Manage, coach, and develop a large, diverse team of managers and frontline employees (union environment)
  • Partner with the client to maintain positive relationships and address operational needs proactively
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and budget management to meet financial goals
  • Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence, innovation, and attention to detail
  • Uphold human resources standards, including hiring, onboarding, and performance development
