Job Description

Sodexo, a global leader in food services and facilities management, is currently seeking a Food Service Operations Manager 1 to manage operations at Menlo College, located in Atherton, California. Menlo College is a private undergraduate institution that specializes in teaching practical business skills within the entrepreneurial economy. Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, just outside San Francisco, Menlo College offers degree programs in business and psychology and provides a residential campus experience for its students. Sodexo plays a vital role on this campus by delivering comprehensive food, nutrition, environmental, and facilities management services aimed at enhancing the quality of life and well-being for the college’s student body and staff.

The Food Service Operations Manager 1 will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of retail and food service outlets on the Menlo College campus. This role involves leadership, management, and operational oversight to deliver exceptional service standards that support the campus environment. The manager will lead frontline teams by mentoring them in areas such as accurate cash handling, efficient opening and closing procedures, and adherence to health and safety standards, including HACCP and Sodexo-specific operational protocols.

In addition to team leadership, the Food Service Operations Manager will conduct audits to ensure retail brand standards are maintained, oversee vendor relationships, and manage the merchandising, marketing, and product ordering processes to maintain the integrity of both national and in-house branded concepts. Maintaining all signage, including digital displays, as well as compliance with operational and food safety standards will be critical responsibilities. Job Requirements

  • associate's degree or equivalent experience
  • minimum 2 years management experience
  • minimum 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc
  • a history of strong leadership and excellent communication skills
  • prior experience promoting national brands with clients and customers in a campus environment
  • proven client relationship and customer service skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • lead frontline teams, mentoring them in accurate cash handling, operations, open and closing processes
  • train and manage department HACCP safety programs, Sodexo programs and daily operation standards
  • conduct retail brand standard audits in-house and national brands
  • maintain integrity of retail branded concept standards national and in-house brands
  • manage the opening and closing the operation as well daily retail food service operations
  • ensure all needed signage including digital is in place
  • manage vendor relationships and compliance
  • maintain all product merchandising, marketing and ordering standards are in place
