The Cook I position at WarHorse Gaming in Omaha, NE, is a full-time role that plays an essential part within the culinary team by preparing food items in line with established recipes and the high culinary standards set by the Executive Chef. This role requires a committed individual who can excel in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring that food preparation complies with safety, sanitation, and operational standards. Working varying shifts based on business needs, the Cook I contributes to seamless kitchen operations by supporting prep and line cooking stations encompassing breakfast, entrees, and desserts. Responsibilities also extend to maintaining proper food handling, storage, and rotation according to safety protocols, cleaning kitchen workstations and equipment, accurately portioning and garnishing dishes, restocking supplies, and operating kitchen equipment safely.

Beyond the technical skills, this role demands excellent communication and customer service skills to engage positively with guests and team members, promoting property events and offerings. The position demands physical stamina and the ability to work under pressure, involving frequent standing, lifting, and handling of culinary tools. Candidates must be 19 years or older and able to obtain and maintain a Nebraska Gaming License. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-5 years of experience in a high-volume food service environment
  • knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety

  • ability to work in high-pressure environment
  • ability to tolerate cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food items according to standardized recipes and guest specifications
  • support prep and line cooking stations including breakfast, entrees, and desserts
  • maintain proper food handling, storage, and rotation practices in compliance with safety standards
  • ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen workstations, equipment, and surfaces
  • accurately portion food, garnish plates, and prepare menu items to specification
  • monitor par levels and restock supplies from inventory as needed
  • operate kitchen equipment safely and according to established procedures
  • provide friendly and responsive service to guests and team members
  • follow directions from culinary leadership and support overall kitchen operations
