Job Description
Dust Bowl is a dynamic and customer-focused establishment renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality culinary experiences. As a respected restaurant, Dust Bowl thrives on maintaining excellent food standards and promoting a collaborative work environment where efficiency and hospitality come together seamlessly. This establishment specializes in preparing and serving a wide variety of dishes, ensuring excellent taste, presentation, and portion control to consistently meet high guest expectations. Known for its dedication to excellence, Dust Bowl employs a diverse team that works closely to uphold rigorous standards in the kitchen and the front-of-house areas, creating a memorable dining experience.
The Food Expo position at Dust Bowl plays a vital role in supervising and ensuring the quality of all finished dishes, meal portions, and presentation before they reach the customers. This role is essential in bridging the gap between the front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) teams by organizing and delegating orders effectively to guarantee timely and accurate meal delivery. The Food Expo is responsible for facilitating communication between servers and line cooks to synchronize kitchen workflow and prioritize dish preparation according to ticket times.
This part-time role requires flexibility with working hours, including day, evening, and weekend shifts to align with the operational needs of Dust Bowl. The position pays an hourly rate ranging from $16.90 to $17.00, plus tips, making it a competitive opportunity within the food service industry. Primary responsibilities include setting up, prepping, and stocking stations for service, assisting kitchen staff as needed, and managing Point of Sale (POS) and Kitchen Display System (KDS) screens to accommodate special requests and modifications. Maintaining cleanliness and efficiency throughout service is also crucial to this position, along with performing thorough shutdown and sanitation duties at the end of shifts.
Ideal candidates exhibit strong communication skills, organizational capabilities, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Food Expo must be adept at clear, respectful, and confident exchanges with managers, kitchen staff, and taproom personnel alike. Physical stamina is also necessary to meet the demands of standing for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in hot, humid conditions. The role reports directly to kitchen managers and supports them in ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
Dust Bowl values inclusivity and encourages individuals with criminal records to apply, highlighting the company’s commitment to equal employment opportunities. Employees in this role benefit from access to company perks such as a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, employee discounts, and paid sick time. This position offers an excellent chance for individuals passionate about food service and culinary standards to grow their careers while contributing to a vibrant and supportive team environment.
