Job Description
The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) is a state agency dedicated to supporting people with developmental disabilities. APD works in partnership with local communities to help individuals live, learn, and work within their environments. The agency provides a broad spectrum of services and support designed to help customers reach their full potential. Job Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without accommodations
- Must be able to lift, carry, bend, crouch, reach overhead, stand, and walk on a consistent basis
- Must be able to do manual dexterity (i.e. use of fingers, hands, and arms)
- Ability to read
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to work independently
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Cook, measure and prepare a variety of food following standard recipes to proper temperature
- Check temperatures and record on log
- Check and approve quality of product before cooking or prepping
- Ensure all food is appealing and appetizing
- Ensure minimal loss of temperature and quality
- Ensure food is prepped and leftovers are stored properly and in accordance with departmental guidelines
- Maintain high level of sanitation in work and storage areas
- Clean equipment and utensils
- Work dish room and pot room as assigned
- Make daily inventory checks to ensure you have what you need for the menus for the following day according to production sheets
- Work on tray line, employee cafeteria and assist with deliveries as assigned
