Job Description
IKEA is a globally recognized leader in the home furnishing industry, renowned for its commitment to providing affordable, functional, and sustainable products that enhance everyday living. Founded in Sweden, IKEA has successfully spread its unique culture and values worldwide, bringing the Scandinavian heritage to diverse communities through its wide range of home décor and furniture solutions. Central to IKEA's mission is the vision to create a better everyday life for many people, a goal that extends beyond just products to include a genuine concern for the planet and the communities it serves. IKEA fosters an inclusive, diverse, and supportive work environment where every co-worker is encouraged to be their unique selves, contribute their talents, and grow professionally and personally. The company is committed to operating with sustainability and social responsibility at its core while cultivating a workplace culture driven by respect, collaboration, and innovation.
The Food Service Team Member role at IKEA is a vital position within the Food & Restaurant department, located in Atlanta. This is a part-time, permanent co-worker opportunity that typically involves working 12 to 20 hours a week, including nights and weekends to meet retail environment demands. The hourly pay range for this position is $18.67 to $23.81, reflecting IKEA's dedication to fair and competitive wages. This role is more than just serving food; it is about contributing to the overall IKEA experience, where food brings people together and supports the company’s sustainability and quality standards.
As a Food Service Team Member, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining IKEA Food menu items consistent with the IKEA Food concept, ensuring adherence to strict food handling, health, and sustainability standards. Your role will involve interacting with customers to provide helpful information that supports informed purchase decisions while processing sales transactions accurately and in compliance with cash handling policies. Maintaining operational excellence also includes managing kitchen equipment by adhering to operational guidelines, performing preventive and cleaning maintenance, and troubleshooting any breakdowns.
Additionally, you will oversee the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for all customers. Managing the Swedish Food Market section is another important aspect of this role, where you will handle merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the sanitization of sampling areas and equipment to uphold quality and safety standards. Accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions — including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags — is essential to enhancing the customer experience.
Inventory control is critical to this position. You will be expected to maintain supply rotation and stocking based on the First In, First Out (FIFO) principle, monitor expiration dates closely, and follow IKEA's sustainability standards to reduce waste and ensure freshness. Implementing IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory rounds out your duties. Lastly, safety is paramount; abiding by workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations and promptly reporting any concerns to management are mandatory responsibilities.
IKEA emphasizes creating a work environment where the company culture is a strong and living reality, embracing the diversity of co-workers and customers alike. The company’s food division reaches over 660 million customers annually, sharing a modern taste of Sweden inspired by Scandinavian traditions. Working at IKEA offers the opportunity to be part of a diverse team dedicated to making a positive impact through food that supports both people and the planet.
The role promises a fulfilling experience supported by a variety of employee benefits designed to ensure work-life balance and overall well-being. Eligible co-workers enjoy generous paid time off, holiday and sick leave, access to early earned wages through WiselyPay, paid parental leave, retirement and bonus plans, co-worker discounts, and educational assistance programs among others. IKEA is a company that values its employees, encouraging growth, inclusion, and fun, making it an excellent place to start or continue your career with purpose and passion.
