The available role is a Food Category Expert position offering flexible shift availability with a competitive pay range between $15.75 and $16.25 per hour. This role is vital in managing the foodservice operations within the store, ensuring that all food-related activities are performed efficiently and according to company standards. The Food Category Expert acts as the primary resource for food product knowledge, supporting team members with training, coaching, and leadership to maximize sales and minimize waste. This position demands a hands-on approach to food ordering, inventory management, product display, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities include planning and executing food sampling programs to engage customers and enrich their shopping experience, leading store employee training on new foodservice programs, and maintaining perfect food rotation practices using the FIFO method. The expert is accountable for ordering food stock wisely to reduce out-of-stock situations and shrinkage, thus enhancing profitability. In addition, this role requires collaborating with Business Unit Quality Assurance and Safety (BUQAS) training personnel to implement ongoing training and ensure all foodservice operations meet regulatory and company standards.
This position is ideal for candidates with at least two years of experience in fast-moving consumer goods retail or the foodservice industry, equipped with leadership, communication, and organizational skills. A Food Manager Certification such as ServSafe or NRFSP is mandatory, and bilingual capabilities in English and French (specifically for Quebec locations) are highly valued. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience working in fast moving consumer goods retail and/or foodservice industry
- Experience in training, leadership, team building
- Food Manager Certification such as ServSafe or NRFSP
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Customer service oriented with excellent customer service skills
- Ability to deliver consistently within deadlines
- Effective communication with customers, management, associates, and vendors

Job Duties
- Act as food category expert in store
- Ensure all food operational execution in store are followed to maximize sales and reduce waste
- Train, teach and coach store associates on food execution, production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization and customer service
- Be the go-to person in store for employees with questions connected to food products and services
- Plan and execute food sampling for employees and customers
- Conduct and lead in store training for store employees and operation teams on all new foodservice programs
- Follow up with and conduct refresher training activities for store employees as needed
- Ensure foodservice areas are stocked and food rotated using FIFO method
- Display food items using current planogram
- Order or assist in ordering food products to lower out of stocks and improve shrink
- Monitor shrink while improving sales to maximize foodservice profit
- Identify, suggest, train, and collaborate with BUQAS training personnel
- Ensure food safety practices and procedures
- Conduct needs analysis and provide recommended actions based on BUQAS visits
- Operate within budgeted expectations
