This opportunity is for an experienced Food Category Expert to join the store team as a full-time key member responsible for all food-related operations. The role demands a high level of expertise in food products and services, ensuring all food operational procedures are executed to maximize sales and minimize waste effectively. The successful candidate will lead training initiatives, coaching store associates on food execution, production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization, and exceptional customer service. Acting as the go-to person within the store, this role involves answering employee questions regarding food items and services and spearheading food sampling activities for both employees and customers.
Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, the Food Category Expert will conduct and lead in-store training for new Foodservice programs, following a structured train-the-trainer model to ensure consistent knowledge dissemination across teams. Ongoing refresher training activities will also be a critical component to maintain high standards and operational excellence. The role includes managing foodservice areas by keeping them well-stocked and ensuring food is rotated using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method to maintain freshness and reduce spoilage. Display of food products must adhere to current planograms provided by the business unit to maintain store aesthetics and sales effectiveness.
Inventory management plays a significant part in this role, requiring assistance or independent ordering of food products to reduce out-of-stock situations and improve shrink control. Monitoring shrink strategically will help balance sales growth with profitability to meet foodservice profit goals. Collaboration is key, as the expert will continuously work with BUQAS training personnel to implement manager and store employee Foodservice training programs effectively. Maintaining food safety practices and procedures is non-negotiable and forms a critical part of daily operations.
The expert will also conduct needs analyses based on BUQAS visits and recommend actionable improvements in store operations. Responsible budgeting within a defined financial scope highlights the role’s accountability for aligning operational costs with company expectations. This comprehensive role calls for strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, and expertise in food safety to support the store's success and enhance customer satisfaction.
