The food category expert will act as the authoritative resource within the store for all food-related operations, spearheading initiatives to maximize sales while minimizing waste through rigorous adherence to operational guidelines. The role includes training, coaching, and mentoring store associates on critical aspects such as food production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization, and customer service. This position is pivotal in advancing the store's foodservice offerings, ensuring food safety compliance, and enhancing the overall shopping experience for customers.

Key responsibilities include planning and executing food sampling events to educate both employees and customers on product offerings, thereby driving awareness and sales. The food expert also leads in-store training sessions based on established programs, fostering continuous learning and adherence to company standards. Stock management, including accurate ordering and monitoring of food rotation via the FIFO method, ensures freshness and reduces shrinkage. The expert monitors shrink levels while improving sales to maximize profitability, collaborating closely with Business Unit Quality Assurance and Safety (BUQAS) training personnel to maintain high training standards across the team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in fast moving consumer goods retail or foodservice industry
  • Experience in training and leadership
  • Food Manager Certification (ServSafe, NRFSP)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Customer service oriented with excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently
  • Effective communication skills with customers, management, associates and vendors

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in education, instructional roles, or equivalent retail training
  • Leading or supervisory experience desired
  • Minimum 2 years experience in fast moving consumer goods retail or foodservice industry
  • Experience in training, leadership and team building
  • Strong collaboration, cooperation, communication and organizational skills
  • Food Manager Certification such as ServSafe or NRFSP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Ability to consistently deliver within deadlines

Job Duties

  • Be the food category expert in store
  • Ensure all food operational executions are followed to maximize sales and reduce waste
  • Train, teach and coach store associates on food execution, production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization and customer service
  • Serve as the go-to person in store for questions about food products and services
  • Plan and execute food sampling for employees and customers
  • Conduct and lead in-store training on new foodservice programs
  • Follow up and conduct refresher training for store employees
  • Ensure foodservice areas are stocked and food rotated using FIFO method
  • Display food items according to current Planogram
  • Order food products to reduce out-of-stock and shrink
  • Monitor shrink while improving sales to maximize profit
  • Collaborate with BUQAS training personnel to deliver foodservice training
  • Ensure compliance with food safety practices and procedures
  • Conduct needs analysis and recommend actions based on BUQAS visits
  • Operate within budgeted expectations
