The Food & Beverage Team Leader role at Target is a dynamic and engaging position focused on driving the operational success of the store's food and beverage departments. As a leader, the Food & Beverage Team Leader is responsible for coaching and developing hourly team members, overseeing department sales, maintaining inventory accuracy, and upholding food safety and quality standards. This position offers a starting pay range of $21.75 to $23.75 per hour and can go up to $37.00 per hour based on factors such as experience, education, and certifications.

The role involves collaborating closely with store leadership and vendors to maintain an inviting and compliant food and beverage environment. Responsibilities include leading team huddles, managing workloads based on sales patterns, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, especially concerning adult beverage sales. The Food & Beverage Team Leader plays a critical role in creating a culture that values ethical conduct, safety, inclusivity, and continuous improvement. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times, reflecting the fast-paced nature of retail operations. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail and or food experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interest in food and beverage business
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Availability to work variable schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Comfortable working in refrigeration and freezer conditions
  • Reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to access all areas of store and respond to guest or team member issues
  • Capability to climb ladders
  • Willingness to engage in all training and certification processes
  • Commitment to safety and ethical conduct
  • Flexibility to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail and or food experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interest and knowledge in the food and beverage business
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Effective communication skills
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced and physically demanding environments
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local adult beverage laws (if applicable)
  • Food Safety Manager Certification (preferred)
  • Experience with interviewing, training and developing team members

Job Duties

  • Deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience
  • Ensure every team member understands and consistently delivers on guest experience commitments and operations
  • Review guest, financial and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and improve
  • Plan and execute daily and weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals
  • Lead and develop hourly team members through training, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, food safety, and presentation standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and store leadership to ensure product availability and compliance with all laws and brand standards
