The Food & Beverage Team Leader role at Target plays a critical part in maintaining the high standards and smooth operations of the food and beverage department. This team ensures that food products and services meet quality, freshness, pricing, and safety standards, providing guests with a consistent and positive shopping experience. The position involves overseeing food replenishment, inventory accuracy, promotional pricing, and compliance with food safety regulations.

As a Food & Beverage Team Leader, you will cultivate a guest-first culture by leading and coaching a team of hourly associates. Your leadership skills will be essential in managing workload planning and execution, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining an environment that upholds brand standards including those of Starbucks and Pizza Hut, where applicable. You will be instrumental in fostering inclusivity and ethical practices while ensuring safety, compliance, and merchandise protection throughout the department.

The role requires a dynamic, fast-paced approach to managing daily department goals with flexibility in work hours that may include early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. Your ability to communicate effectively, problem-solve, and motivate team members while meeting sales and operational goals will be key to success. This position also offers an opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills and industry knowledge through various training and certification programs, including Food Safety Manager Certification and brand-specific trainings. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Able to communicate and operate handheld technology devices
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Access all areas of the building
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Ability to climb ladders and handle merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule with reliable attendance
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments
  • Capable of working in exposure to allergens
  • Ability to remain mobile during shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail or food experience preferred but not required
  • Strong interest and knowledge of Food & Beverage business

Job Duties

  • Understand sales goals, plan and execute daily and weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement including merchandising, pricing, changes to sales floor merchandise displays, sampling and promotions
  • Assess backroom and sales floor areas daily by walking Target Food & Beverage Standards and prioritize workload tasks for the team
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable
  • Maintain a fresh, full and food-safe area during all operating hours leveraging strong inventory management and food safety policies
  • Validate and follow-up on team members progress against assigned workload tasks and best practices
  • Work flexible schedules including early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic patterns
