Job Description
Target Corporation is a leading American retail company known for its commitment to enhancing the shopping experience of families across the United States. As a well-established retailer, Target serves millions of guests through its wide range of products and services, combining convenience with value and quality. The company operates numerous stores nationwide, fostering a culture that prioritizes guest satisfaction, inclusivity, and community engagement. Target is also recognized for its dedication to providing comprehensive employee benefits and creating an inspiring work environment that encourages growth, development, and teamwork.
The Food & Beverage Team Leader role at Target is a dynamic leadership position within the Food & Beverage department, focusing on ensuring a consistent, exceptional experience for guests by maintaining product freshness, availability, and accurate merchandising. This role requires a strong understanding of retail food services operations, including inventory management, food safety, pricing, and promotional activities. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for guiding a team of hourly employees, supporting daily workflows, coaching and developing team members, and driving sales performance to meet department goals.
This position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $24.75 to $42.05, depending on factors such as labor market conditions, education, experience, and certifications. In addition to base pay, Target invests significantly in its team members by offering comprehensive benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance, as well as financial programs like 401(k) plans, employee discounts, and paid time off. The role supports a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts to meet business needs.
As a Food & Beverage Team Leader, you will cultivate a guest-first culture by ensuring every team member exemplifies Target's guest experience commitments while maintaining operational excellence. Daily responsibilities include overseeing product replenishment, ensuring food safety compliance, executing merchandising standards, and engaging with team members to foster accountability and celebrate successes. You will analyze sales and guest data to identify trends and opportunities, manage inventory to maintain full and fresh displays, and uphold brand standards from partners such as Starbucks and Pizza Hut, where applicable.
The role involves leading team huddles, managing hiring and onboarding processes, and collaborating closely with store leadership teams to enhance sales performance and team productivity. Safety and compliance are paramount; you will lead by example in cultivating a culture of safety, ethical conduct, and regulatory compliance, including adherence to local and federal laws especially pertaining to food and beverage sales. Occasionally, this position may require assuming store-level leadership duties during shifts, addressing emergencies, and supporting merchandise protection strategies.
Ideal candidates for this role are those who thrive in fast-paced, physically active environments, enjoy helping guests and team members, and demonstrate flexibility in scheduling. You should possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for retail food operations. Previous retail or food service experience is preferred but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided to support your success in this role. Requirements include being at least 18 years old and having a high school diploma or equivalent.
Target welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities throughout the employment process. This inclusive approach ensures every team member's potential can be realized in a supportive and equitable workplace. By joining Target as a Food & Beverage Team Leader, you have the opportunity to develop critical management skills, contribute meaningfully to an essential retail segment, and be part of a company that values both its guests and team members alike.
