The Food & Beverage Supervisor role at Oak View Group is a vital position within the hospitality division, responsible for overseeing the guest dining experience within venue dining areas and catering functions. This is a part-time position offering an hourly wage of $17.00, ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments. The supervisor must exhibit strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams and interact with guests, ensuring outstanding service delivery at all times.

Responsibilities of the Food & Beverage Supervisor include supervising meal service, guiding guests through buffet lines, managing beverage service with stringent compliance on age verification, assisting in order recording and point-of-sale (POS) operations, and monitoring guest requests to maintain seamless service. This role also demands the supervision of banquet setups, maintaining health and safety standards, overseeing inventory, and supporting the management team on various projects including staff training and special event preparations.

Candidates for this role should be detail-oriented and capable of maintaining excellent attendance to support scheduled events and operational needs. The Food & Beverage Supervisor is entrusted with upholding company policies and ensuring that all service areas are clean, sanitized, and fully equipped before event commencement. Additionally, this role involves recognizing intoxicated guests to responsibly manage alcohol service and ensure a safe and positive environment for all patrons.

Job Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a supervisory capacity in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment or applicable education
  • ability to supervise the work of others
  • ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • possess a valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit if required by state or federal regulations
  • ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
  • ability to calculate basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory
  • show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
  • maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need

Job Duties

  • Oversee meal service to guests or guide guests through the buffet line as needed
  • supervise beverage service including alcoholic beverages and verify guest identification to ensure compliance with minimum age requirements
  • assist with recording guest orders and entering them into the kitchen through the POS system
  • monitor guest tables to respond to additional requests and determine when meals are completed
  • calculate meal totals, present checks to guests, process payments, and provide change when necessary
  • ensure tableware and linens are replaced and maintained as needed throughout service
  • recommend menu items, describe ingredients, and explain preparation methods to enhance the guest dining experience
  • supervise the setup of banquet functions including linens, dishware, glassware, and silverware
  • maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
  • assure that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event
  • recognize guests that are visibly intoxicated and take action to cut off alcohol to such individuals
  • enforce all Ovations policies and procedures
  • assist management team with projects including training, inventory, and special events
  • perform all other duties as assigned by the managers and supervisors
