Job Description
Rail Events Productions (REP), a subsidiary of American Heritage Railways, is an innovative entertainment company specializing in creating immersive and unique event experiences aboard historic trains. Their productions combine the nostalgia of rail travel with captivating live performances, providing guests with unforgettable journeys set against the scenic backdrop of America’s railways. As a recognized leader in the niche market of rail-based entertainment, REP emphasizes quality, safety, and exceptional guest experiences, making them a preferred employer for creative professionals and hospitality experts alike.
The Food and Beverage Supervisor role with Rail Events Productions is centered around the celebrated interactive experience, Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure. This seasonal, non-exempt hourly position offers a competitive pay rate of $23 per hour, making it an attractive opportunity for individuals passionate about food service and live event production. The supervisor will operate within the front-of-house Rail Events Productions team and report directly to the FOH Manager, playing a crucial part in the smooth operation of onboard food and beverage offerings.
In this dynamic role, the Food and Beverage Supervisor is responsible for managing all aspects of food and beverage production in collaboration with various departments, including the Production Food and Beverage Supervisor and the local Production Manager. The supervisor acts as the primary onsite contact for third-party vendors, railroad staff, event employees, and passengers, ensuring that all food and beverage services meet REP’s high standards throughout the show day. Leadership is a foundational element of the position as the supervisor supports, trains, and motivates the food and beverage team to deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key responsibilities include overseeing inventory control, maintaining compliance with local health regulations, coordinating catering efforts, and ensuring the quality and presentation of food and beverages align with company standards. The supervisor is tasked with managing daily operations, including registering and cash handling processes, and maintaining a clean and organized production area that reflects safety protocols and merchandising standards. This role demands excellent multitasking skills, attention to detail, and a strong customer service orientation. The supervisor also fosters a collaborative team culture, encouraging staff to provide personalized service that drives sales and enhances guest satisfaction.
Working aboard a moving train presents unique challenges and opportunities. The environment varies between indoor and outdoor settings, involves exposure to changing weather conditions, and requires physical stamina for standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting heavy objects. The supervisor must thrive under these conditions while demonstrating flexibility in work hours, which include evenings, weekends, and overtime. The experience gained in this position is particularly valuable for those interested in live event hospitality, theater production, or themed entertainment sectors.
Joining Rail Events Productions means being part of a creative, inclusive team passionate about storytelling and guest experience. The organization fosters an environment of safety, growth, and mutual respect among its employees. Working on Harry PotterTM: A Hogwarts Express Adventure offers a rare blend of theater, hospitality, and railroading that few other jobs can match. It is a unique opportunity to contribute to a magical journey that creates lasting memories for thousands of guests while building a rewarding career in event production and food and beverage management.
