Job Description

Horseshoe Casino Hammond is a premier entertainment and gambling destination located just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago, serving the Chicago and Northwest Indiana area. As one of the leading casinos in the region, Horseshoe Hammond offers a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere with more than 2,100 slot machines and over 100 table games, providing guests with a superior gaming experience that is unmatched by competitors. The casino is renowned not only for its extensive gaming offerings but also for its fresh dining options, including The Eatery: Café and H Burger, ensuring guests can enjoy quality meals as part of their visit. Horseshoe Casino Hammond has earned recognition as the Best Place To Work for the last nine years, reflecting its commitment to fostering a positive work environment and employee satisfaction.

The role being offered is for a supervisory position focusing on managing and coordinating wait staff and VIP service to ensure the highest quality of customer service is consistently delivered to guests. The job is designed to help maintain the casino’s reputation for excellence by overseeing bartending and serving operations within assigned outlets. This includes managing staffing, resolving guest concerns, monitoring inventory, and ensuring compliance with both company policies and safety standards. The position requires a hands-on approach to leadership, including the training and coaching of staff to maintain excellent service levels at all times.

The supervisor will be responsible for a wide array of duties such as scheduling staff to optimize guest service, reviewing menus with kitchen staff, conducting shift meetings, and maintaining operational standards including cleanliness and equipment functionality. Additionally, this role involves handling cash drawer reconciliations, managing guest seating, and assisting with special requests or dissatisfied guests to ensure complete satisfaction. The candidate will also be expected to have a basic knowledge of menu items, liquor, and wine, and the ability to recommend and present wines tableside. Since this position operates in a fast-paced and potentially loud environment, it demands flexibility in working hours— including weekends and holidays— and the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.

The position requires compliance with legal requirements, including obtaining and maintaining the appropriate liquor and gaming licenses as mandated by the state of Indiana and the Indiana Gaming Commission respectively. Physical demands of the role include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work in varying temperatures, and remain on one's feet for extended periods. The candidate must also be comfortable working in environments that may be crowded, smoky, and noisy.
