Job Description

Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, known for its commitment to exceptional service, innovation, and fostering a welcoming environment for both guests and employees. With a diverse portfolio of brands, including Marriott Hotels and the luxury JW Marriott properties, the company operates more than 100 impressive locations in gateway cities and unique resort destinations worldwide. Marriott International prides itself on its culture of inclusivity and equality, providing equal employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of background. The company’s hospitality philosophy centers on the idea that happy associates lead to happy guests, emphasizing holistic well-being and professional development for its team members. Marriott’s legacy stems from its founder, J. Willard Marriott, whose vision and values continue to influence the brand’s approach to delivering outstanding guest experiences and maintaining a collaborative and supportive work environment.

The position being offered is a supervisory role within one of Marriott's hotel properties, focusing on maintaining high standards of service and operations through effective team leadership and quality control. This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional responsible for ensuring that staff works cohesively as a team to provide optimum service to guests. Responsibilities include monitoring staff grooming and attire, preparing and completing both opening and closing duties, managing inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles, and overseeing the cleanliness and organization of storage and work areas. The role also involves actively monitoring the dining room areas to ensure safety, comfort, and guest well-being, along with managing maintenance requests to keep facilities in excellent condition.

Another critical aspect of this supervisory position is assisting management with key human resource functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating staff members. The supervisor acts as a role model and initial point of contact for grievance procedures and is expected to uphold Marriott's Guarantee of Fair Treatment and Open Door Policy. A central part of the role involves maintaining compliance with company safety and security policies, reporting incidents, and participating in safety training and certifications to foster a safe working environment.

The position requires a professional appearance and demeanor, confidentiality in handling proprietary company information, and the responsibility to protect company assets at all times. The supervisor will actively engage with guests, providing warm welcomes, anticipating and resolving service needs, assisting individuals with disabilities, and thanking guests genuinely, which aligns with Marriott's legendary hospitality ethos.

Effective communication using clear, professional language and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential traits for success in this role. The supervisor will focus on quality assurance, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, productivity, safety, and cost savings within the operation. The job entails physical requirements including standing or sitting for extended periods, moving objects up to 50 pounds, navigating confined spaces, and performing tasks involving bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors to support the hotel’s operational standards.

Preferred qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of relevant work experience and a minimum of one year in a supervisory capacity. While no specific licenses or certifications are required, the role demands a solid understanding of hospitality service standards, team leadership, and operational management.

Joining Marriott Hotels means becoming part of a prestigious brand known worldwide for its commitment to 'Wonderful Hospitality. Always.' and offering employees an opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to a legacy of luxury, innovation, and guest satisfaction. The role offers a chance to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where your contributions directly impact the guest experience and overall business success. Marriott International is dedicated to fostering a respectful and inclusive work culture where every associate can thrive and be their best.
