The role available at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa is for a Food and Beverage Server, an essential position that plays a pivotal part in providing warm, attentive, and professional service in various dining outlets including restaurants and bars. This position requires a blend of excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality to enhance the guest experience. Your responsibilities will involve taking and serving food and beverage orders with flair, utilizing suggestive selling techniques to increase revenue, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and adhering to health, safety, and liquor service regulations in a luxury environment. The Food and Beverage Server is expected to display knowledge of menu items, preparation methods, and appropriate table settings to deliver impeccable service. This position combines interaction with guests and backend organizational tasks, offering an engaging and rewarding experience for hospitality professionals at all stages of their career.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum two years experience as a food server in full-service restaurant
  • customer service experience preferred
  • proficiency with Micros POS or similar system
  • good communication skills both verbal and written
  • knowledge of table settings and service ware
  • ability to describe menu items and use suggestive selling
  • knowledge of food and alcoholic beverages
  • ability to perform cleaning tasks adhering to health and safety standards
  • knowledge of laws regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons
  • CARE certification

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • hospitality degree or formal training preferred
  • minimum of two years experience as a food server in a full-service restaurant or hotel dining outlet
  • prior customer service experience in a hospitality environment preferred
  • proficiency with Micros POS or similar restaurant point-of-sale systems
  • strong knowledge of appropriate table settings, service ware, food presentation, and fine dining etiquette
  • in-depth understanding of hotel food and beverage operations
  • excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • strong computer skills including Micros POS and basic Microsoft Office applications
  • CARE certification

Job Duties

  • Take orders for and serve all food and beverage requests, using suggestive selling techniques
  • clear tables during service
  • control guest checks and secure proper payment
  • ensure station and table set-ups are complete and perform various side duties as assigned by the Outlet Supervisor
  • maintain proper condition and cleanliness of dining areas and servicing equipment
  • perform general cleaning tasks utilizing cleaning products to adhere to health and safety standards
  • ensure compliance with all health, safety, and liquor service regulations
