Job Description
Hornblower Group is a global leader in experiences and transportation, with a rich history spanning over 100 years. The company offers a broad portfolio of international services that extend across water- and land-based experiences as well as ferry and transportation services. As part of its extensive operations, Hornblower Group's premier experience division, City Experiences, provides a variety of unique dining and sightseeing cruises along with walking and food tours through its well-known brands such as City Cruises, Walks, and Devour. This ensures that guests have the opportunity to explore cities in innovative and engaging ways that combine culture, cuisine, and scenic views.
In addition, Hornblower Group operates the largest private fleet of high-speed passenger and vehicle ferries in the United States through its City Ferry division. This division serves over 10 million passengers annually with services that include NYC Ferry, Puerto Rico Ferry, and several regional ferry operations. The broad scope of Hornblower's transportation portfolio not only highlights its leadership in the industry but also its commitment to providing reliable and efficient transit options across multiple locations. Subsidiaries such as Hornblower Marine, which handles vessel maintenance and outhaul at Bridgeport Boatworks in Connecticut, and Seaward Services, Inc., which specializes in shipping and waterfront logistics, further support Hornblower's comprehensive marine services.
Located headquarters in Orlando, Florida, Hornblower Group also maintains additional corporate offices in key cities like San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, London, New York, Dublin, and locations in Ontario, Canada. The company’s global footprint covers over 10 countries and 50 U.S. cities, serving more than 20 million guests annually. Hornblower’s reach combined with its reputation for quality ensures it remains a major player in the transportation and travel experience markets worldwide.
This role focuses on the position of a Prep Cook, ideal for individuals looking to develop foundational culinary skills within a large global company known for high standards and exceptional guest experiences. The Prep Cook will prepare food for events, including essential tasks like cutting, chopping, peeling, and plating food appropriately for buffet presentation. This role requires attention to safety and sanitation standards and collaboration with the team to ensure a clean, efficient galley environment.
Working within Hornblower’s dynamic and fast-paced environment offers excellent learning opportunities for aspiring culinary professionals seeking to advance their careers. Given that the position involves assisting with delivery processing and maintaining safe and sanitary workstations, it is a hands-on role that blends practical kitchen skills with teamwork and operational support. The position not only helps prepare delicious food but also ensures compliance with health and safety guidelines, sharpening the cook’s knowledge of regulations such as food handling and proper storage.
In summary, this position is well-suited for someone passionate about cooking who desires a career path within the food and hospitality industries, especially within a company that values respect, inclusion, and operational excellence. Hornblower Group's dedication to equal opportunity employment and adherence to government regulations reinforces its commitment to workplace diversity and fairness, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all employees.
