Residence Inn Tierra Verde is one of Shaner Hotels’ premier properties located in the vibrant St. Petersburg area. This 90-room extended-stay hotel offers sophisticated amenities designed to cater to both business travelers and vacationers. The hotel features over 875 square feet of versatile event spaces, ideal for corporate and social gatherings. A standout feature of the property is the stunning Vista at the Top, a rooftop bar and restaurant that boasts breathtaking panoramic waterfront views, providing guests with a memorable dining and social experience.
The Food & Beverage Manager role at Residence Inn Tierra Verde is a dynamic and leadership-driven position focused on overseeing all food and beverage operations within the hotel. This individual is responsible for managing daily restaurant operations, bar services, banquet and event execution, and sustaining a team culture grounded in hospitality, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be energetic, guest-service oriented, and lead by example, ensuring that exceptional service and attention to detail are central to every interaction.
This full-time position requires a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry. The Food & Beverage Manager will maintain strict food safety, sanitation, and quality standards consistent with hotel, franchise, and Shaner corporate policies. They will be entrusted with training, coaching, and motivating a dedicated team while fostering a productive and positive work environment. Managing event logistics, guest relations, and departmental productivity also fall within the scope of this role.
Success in this position requires the ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders including the General Manager, department managers, supervisors, and team members to maintain alignment of hotel operations. The Food & Beverage Manager acts as the visible face of the department during service and events, engaging with guests to ensure satisfaction and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.
Beyond operational responsibilities, the manager will play a critical role in recruiting, scheduling, performance management, and compliance with hospitality standards. A comprehensive understanding of food and beverage cost control, budgeting, and alcohol awareness along with safety certifications such as ServSafe are essential. Bilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish, are advantageous but not mandatory. Job Requirements
- minimum of two years of supervisory experience in the restaurant or food and beverage field
- high school diploma or equivalent
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training
- alcohol awareness training such as TIPS
- effective communication skills with guests and team members
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- proficiency in basic math and budgeting
- ability to maintain safety, sanitation, and quality standards
- proactive leadership and team management skills
Job Qualifications
- minimum of two years of supervisory experience in the restaurant or food and beverage field
- ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding
- high school graduate or equivalent, some college preferred
- ServSafe and or food safety training
- alcohol awareness training such as TIPS
- familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
- ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations and use required measurement tools
- ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls
- bilingual English Spanish a plus
- knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele
Job Duties
- be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, evenings, and varied shifts as business demands require
- ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures within the food and beverage department
- maintain food and beverage safety, sanitation, and quality standards based on hotel, Shaner, and franchise requirements
- establish, maintain, train, and enforce departmental standards, procedures, and safe working conditions
- lead daily restaurant, bar, and food service operations to ensure an exceptional guest experience
- coordinate and oversee banquet and event operations including setup, execution, breakdown, and service standards
- manage event logistics and work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of meetings, receptions, group functions, and special events
- maintain a highly visible presence during service periods and events, engaging with guests and proactively resolving concerns
- respond to and resolve guest concerns in a professional and timely manner, ensuring service recovery when necessary
- communicate effectively with the general manager, department managers, supervisors, and team members to ensure alignment across hotel operations
- recruit, train, coach, motivate, and develop team members while fostering a positive and productive work environment
- manage all aspects of employee performance including scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching, recognition, and corrective action when necessary
- plan, assign, and direct work activities while ensuring staffing levels support operational needs
- monitor department productivity, labor management, and overall operational effectiveness
- promote a culture centered on hospitality, teamwork, accountability, and guest satisfaction
- perform other duties as assigned
